  • This tour was great, really relaxing, excellent CEO and lovely scenery. My only suggestion is that I was the only solo traveller and then there were 2 families with children. I would advise not letting families book with solo travellers, I felt it took away from my usual experience with G adventures where I have the opportunity to make friends with like minded people. I think it would be good to have an over 39 tour for solo travellers or friends where the standard is slightly above classic, a lot of other companies do this and I think this is a gap in G adventures service. I really loved the tour and country but I do want to meet like minded people so next time would consider another company. Great accomodation overall, authentic experiences included, high level of service and great CE0

  • What is the local currency and how should I manage money?

The local currency is the Thai Baht. The best way to carry money is with debit cards for ATM withdrawals (Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted). USD Cash is recommended for emergencies. Credit cards can be used in some larger stores and upscale restaurants. Ensure USD notes are new and in good condition.
  • Is tipping customary in Thailand?

Yes, it is customary in Asia to tip service providers like waiters at approximately 10%. Tipping local guides and drivers is also appreciated, typically ranging from $1.5-$3.5 USD per person per day. While not compulsory, it shows satisfaction. Most nationalities do not need a visa for Thailand for stays of 30 days or less, but some may obtain one on arrival at Bangkok Airport. For stays longer than 30 days, a tourist visa in advance is required. As of May 1st, 2025, all non-Thai nationals must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at least 3 days before arrival.
  • How should I dress to respect local customs during the tour?

In Asia, a more conservative dress code is expected. Please pack loose, lightweight, long clothing suitable for hot and humid climates. When visiting temples or holy sites in predominantly Buddhist countries, dress respectfully, avoiding very short shorts/skirts and singlets/tank-tops.
  • What important safety and security information should I know?

We strongly recommend using a neck wallet or money belt for valuables and leaving expensive jewelry at home. Many hotels have safety deposit boxes. While cities are generally safe during the day, stay in small groups and use taxis for night excursions. The Expedition Leader can amend itineraries for safety concerns. Participate in water-based activities with a guide, and swimming/snorkeling is at your own risk. Avoid demonstrations.
  • What should LGBTQ+ travelers know about safety and travel considerations on this trip?

The safety and well-being of all travelers, including those identifying as LGBTQ+, is a priority. Specific resources are available on our LGBTQ+ page to ensure comfort and safety throughout your trip.

  • What is the policy regarding illegal drugs and prostitution?

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated, as they contravene local laws and endanger the group. Smoking marijuana and opium, while part of some local cultures, is not acceptable for travelers. The exploitation of prostitutes is also contrary to our travel philosophy. Expedition Leaders have the right to expel any group member found with drugs or using prostitutes.
  • What amount of emergency funds is recommended?

It is recommended to have access to at least an additional USD $250 (or equivalent) as an emergency fund, for use in unforeseen circumstances such as natural disasters requiring a route change. This is a rare occurrence.
  • Can I do laundry during the trip?

Laundry facilities are offered by some hotels for a charge. We suggest bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap for times when you may need to do your own laundry.
